The second Tibetan Film Festival will take place in Zurich in summer 2010. We intend to follow up on the first Tibetan Film Festival that was a huge success last year.
The festival focuses on short films where Tibetans have played a major role as producer, screenwriter or cinematographer. The event has become a platform for Tibetans who want to express their situation as a Tibetan through the medium film.
There is the opportunity to send suggestions for movies to Filming For Tibet.
Filming For Tibet established the Tibetan Film Festival in cooperation with Tibetan Youth Association in Europe (TYAE). The event is dedicated to the Tibetan filmmaker Dhondup Wangchen whose documentary film “Leaving Fear Behind” was a great international success in recent years. He has been sentenced to six years in prison on December 28th, 2009.
Highlights during the first Tibetan Film Festival were films by young Tibetan filmmakers from Switzerland, India and USA. They provided a personal insight into the feelings and thoughts of today’s Tibetan.
